The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing digital technology and innovation for infrastructural development and national growth.
The Director-General of NITDA, Mr. Kashifu Inuwa, stated this on Tuesday in Osogbo, on the sidelines of the 2025 International Conference and Exhibition of Power and Telecommunications (ICEPT), organised by the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE).
Inuwa, who was represented by Mr. Muhammad Salihu, NITDA’s Northwest Zonal Head, said the agency had been creating awareness to ensure that stakeholders key into the digital space to enhance the nation’s digital economy.
He added that the agency would continue to implement Information Technology policies and coordinate general IT development across the country.
Earlier, the President of NIEEE, Dr. Felix Olu, said the conference would enable engineers to examine key issues of concern and proffer lasting solutions to identified challenges.
Olu noted that the challenges of infrastructure, especially in an increasingly digitalised world, required more attention than ever before.
“Infrastructure is the heart of our economy, and that is why it is essential to start applying digital technology to our infrastructure — for monitoring, maintenance, and other purposes,” he said.
In his address, Governor Ademola Adeleke, represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Sunday Olufemi, commended the NIEEE for hosting the conference in the state, noting that Osun would leverage the outcomes of the ICEPT conference to boost its digital technology and power development.
