Engineering standards’ll tackle poor telecom services – NIEEE

The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers has called on engineers to participate in the development of standards in order to address challenges with quality of service. Members of the institute who participated in the 16th International Conference and Exhibition on Power and Telecommunications on Monday said the deployed telecom and electrical equipment should meet industry standard. The National Chairman, NIEEE, Kings Adeyemi, noted that participation in standards development was essential for engineers in order to ensure that the engineering industry remained reliable and respond promptly to sector challenges. According to him, standards reduce the variation in equipment and designs and provide for a longer asset lifecycle. The human body has said to be designed to be in a state of wellness and that the body is always striving to stay healthy, but that some factors are always the creator of diseases in human bodies. This was the view of Mr Tony Akinyemi, who was the Guest Speaker at the Safety and Health Lecture in commemoration of  the 2021 World Day for Safety and Health at Work organised virtually by the Nigerian Institute  of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) recently. Engineers task government on implementation of order to boost local capacity

Engineers have called on the Federal Government to see to the implementation of Executive Order 5 in order to boost local capacity among manufacturers and solution developers. Under the aegis of the Nigeria Institute of Electrical Electronic Engineers (NIEEE), the body noted that the previous efforts of government geared towards achieving economic development had relied on the use of foreign aid, investment in machines, fostering education at the primary and secondary level, controlling population growth and giving loans and debt relief on reforms to stimulate the economy with a view to achieving self-sufficiency. However, the engineers claimed the previous efforts were yet to yield the desired results, hence the need for full-scale implementation of Executive Order 5 to boost local production.
